Hey Chris,
This is a touching story. This is the type of thing more people in this world need to be doing to help other people. Hopefully this foundation will change the way things are done. Keep the positive attitude and we will continue to support you.
It was a pleasure meeting you yesterday evening. Being a father myself, I could only imagine the emotional hardship of loosing a child; I can appreciate what you are doing trying to make a difference to prevent others from suffering the same kind of lose. May the Lord bless your foundation with success.
Dear Mr. Jerry:
Michigan was a leader in getting Certification started for Pharmacy Technicians and yet
we are one of the last 7 states to see manditory certification/licensure passed.
Currently we have Senator Jim Barcia’s bill 1384 pending in the senate. As far as I can see no action on it since June 2010. I have written Senator majority leader Mike Bishop in hopes he can move this Bill 1384 to the top of the pile, to be voted on before November.
I have talked with Governor Granholm on numerous occasions on this issue and shared
with lawmakers on stories just like Emily. Have many who support Bill 1384
I wrote you a few years back just after Emily’s death and never heard back on how
I could help-then I was getting info gathered for the Pharmacy Day event this week and noticed you had a foundation now. I wish you much success.
I realize that we are all exceptable to errors in this profession we call Pharmacy-but if
we can just educate and keep the lines of communication open and learn from others
errors before they become ours-we will hopefully prevent such deaths as Emily’s.
Please feel free to e-mail me and contact Mike Bishop and get this Bill passed-once and for all. Thank you and look forward to hearing back from you very soon.

She had my heart the first time I saw her picture. I only have a daughter and I share your pain but I also am humbled by your courage. God bless you and your efforts. I donated!!!
Chris I just finished a ce for my pharmacy license on Emily’s tragic death. I am so sorry for your loss..my heart goes out to you and your family. What you are doing with this foundation is life altering for family victims and pharmacists alike. Your website and life”s work need to be known throughout the pharmacy field. I have been with CVS for 29 years and what happened to Eric is my biggest fear in this profession. I hope he continues to heal also. Peace..Michelle
I have been using this medical error story in my IV Therapy RN Orientation for the last several years. I appreciate that you copied the original article with the follow up information concerning the relationship between the pharmacist and father and gave the web site.
The Emily Jerry Foundation is determined to help make our nation’s,
world renowned, medical facilities safer for everyone, beginning with
our babies and children. We are accomplishing this very important
objective by focusing on increasing public awareness of key patient
safety related issues and identifying technology and best practices that
are proven to minimize the “human error” component of medicine.
Through our ongoing efforts The Emily Jerry Foundation is working
hard to save lives every day.
Thank You So Very Much for Your Support!
